How loud can 12s actually get?

I did a 143.6 with my 2 BMs and 1000 watts. That was on music as well, and it was not tuned for SPL at all, I built the box to the recommendations for SQ, 4 cubes, 34Hz, and it hit like crazy.

Whats the loudest daily box I could build for a large trunk car? If I get into the lower-mid 40s daily I'm good. On music that is

you'd have to measure it, but any single 12, ported is sure to work. and you don't really need to fire it through the deck. deaden the trunkreally good, and maybe just remove the rear speakers. maybe even grill the rear deck.

I already cut out the metal behind the rear seat and took the 6x9s out. It gained a lot from that

Well musically....I had a pair of Soundstream SPLX 12's Dual 2's wired 0.5ohm on one of my Sundown 3000D's and musically tuned to 32Hz, playing a Young Hustla song, it peaked at 147.2...Did a burp around 45Hz and it produced a 148.9 clipping...subs and port facing the rear of the vehicle.

I also had a single Memphis MOJO 12" Quad 1 ohm...wired to 1 ohm, in a lame *** pro-box tuned to 36Hz doing 146.8's on music and burping @ 148.0 on 2 Sundown 1500's strapped @ 2 ohm. 1 per amp.

Loudest I ever got was a single 12" Soundstream SPLX Quad 1 ohm sub, in a box tuned to 60Hz, aero-ported, 2.25 cubes...did a 151.3 in the kick, sub and ports facing into the cabin...

Before I sealed it off it did 150.6, I sealed it off from the trunk and it did a 151.3db 5 burps in a row, so it was legit.

Are the Soundstreams really that good? I was looking at a 15 quad coil, but I don't know if they would get loud in a daily box@32hz or are they just for burps. How much power could I send one daily?

I ran that Soundstream 12" SPLX quad 1 daily in 3 cubes tuned to 33Hz and it sounded **** good. Ran it off both Sundown 1500D's strapped @ 2 ohm..Never metered it on music though, just burps.

It took 3000 daily like a champ...They are meant for burping, hence the name SPL-X, lol...because if you look, the Fs is a tad high on them, and the gap is very very small. The SPL-X's are nice line of woofers, only 192oz motor weight but they are very very efficient.

They get really loud off 1500 daily, IMHO...and they love small boxes. I should have made my 151.3 box about 1.75 cubes instead of 2.25 and would have done 152+.. But I didn't know what I know now..

IMO, you prolly wont see high numbers tuned to 32. Might have to raise that a bit to get a little gain.

I could probably get my single 'shade to mid 40s with some playing around and a better amp. I haven't metered it yet(or done a lot of things I should do.... **** money!) but its fairly loud. BTW I am hoping to reach 150 with both in off of 4-7k wrms and some otehr stuff.

But to give you some idea thorshammer is hitting almost 150 on music with 2 tens.... in the same box he plays daily. I heard his shit personally and its A LOT of noise from two little tens //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So you can do a fair bit with any woofer really, just all in how you go about building.

2 cvr 12's, 1kw, 143.2 outta the trunk meca style at 37 hz: im sure the aq 2.5s are a little louder that are in there now ive found port area makes teh loudness usually when dealing with non aero boxes

two 10' diamond tdx's hit 144.7, 1900 watts and two 4' port tubes runnin up thru the back deck where 6 by 9's were. oh and its walled off facin forward
