Ok, first this time i'll be going a little more sq over spl. But hey why would a buy an 18 if i didn't want some noise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Right now i've got my eyes on a particular 18. Ascendant audio avalanche Before buying it I just need to be sure i'm doing the right thing

My car, for now, is an accent 99. Right now i've got the traditionnal 2 12type r on a bxi1606d hooked up at 1ohm. It's loud as ****, but doesn't sound that good compared to my front stage (id ctx65cs) The box is like 4.3 net tuned at 32hz. I want more lowz and for a personal reason it need to be an 18 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

-I can get like 5-6 feet/cu from the trunk so i was planning on doing the ava18 sealed in that space. Does it sound reasonable?

-The bxi1606d will be hooked at 1ohm, is that too much for the avalanche 18?

-Any better sub in my situation

I'm getting a nice price for a used one. around 250$ shipped. Should i buy it now? I don't want to let it go away:p:

This is a nice sql sub right? it got like 27mm of xmax and it use the XBL^2 motor technology. Could it get at least as loud as the R's in my hatchback being sealed?

What would be the minimum enclosure size for ported?what tuning?

Thank you ca people! you're a nice community //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

i dont see why people would want to personally do an 18 in a trunk but thats just me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

from my research, it seems like i could maybe do it ported with that little space...

My plan would be to try it sealed first and if it's not doing it then cutting some hole an putting some aero... tuning low

it's not a trunk car it's an hatchback.

I would be putting the sub on facing top aeroport facing the lid if i do it ported.

They might be a 4x2 few inches over the subs, would that affect the sq in anyway?

Uhm, I hate to break it to you're going to be dissapointed. You have more surface area with two 12's, and can distribute more power to them because you have four current paths. That is, unless you buy an 18" with a quad 1 coil and even then, you'll probably be underpowering it.

If you're not getting proper response from the 12's you already have, you should probably research a new enclosure design first.

but thats just me.

my b....why not sub up port back, do you have pix or what its going in for reference
yeah this is what i was planning... the lid is the back of the car in my case //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I only have one pic upload somewhere in the forum i'll find it right now

isn't 2 12 inch subwoofer(s) ='s 226,188 square inches

and 1 18 inch subwoofer(s) ='s 254,4615 square inches //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

how does the number of coil affect performance? anyway i probably won't be using all the 1500+/- from the 1606d at 1ohm since it's pretty borderline for this sub

its a dvc 2ohm btw, so 1ohm at the amp in that case

Anybody experiment it? how does it compared to other 18's in the sq department
