Is your alt fixed at a certain voltage, or is it controlled by a computer? If it varies in output like normal alts do, you should have been fine with that voltage and you should expect the batteries to hold up.
Now if your alt is set to a certain voltage by hand and does not step down after the batteries are full, then you would expect those batteries to overcharge in that amount of drive time. Basically after batteries are full, your alt should step down to a lower voltage to float them.
Now all of this changes if you have a load present on the batteries. If you are pounding audio at the same time you are driving for those 24 hours, I would expect that the batteries would not be fully charged since they are being drawn down by the audio.
How old are these batteries anyways? Did you buy them new or used? I would get a warranty swap on them if they are still under warranty.
BTW, were you in the Cannonball Run or something? 24 hours of driving FTMFL!
