how good or bad is the Eclipse 8053

I know it is a 8 volt preout but how good is the deck from function to sound is this deck.thanks

one of the more sought after eclipse decks.. its a dead head.. some people will say its one of if not the best eclipse made.

isnt there a flash update or something to make it read mp3's?

biggest thing i didnt like was the non removable face. huge turnoff, especially with a firebird.

It will play MP3's if you add the Eclipse Commander. Big expense simply for the ability to play MP3's.

As for the 8053, extremely good unit. Great features, great sound, great quality.

The two things that I did not like about it are that in Pro Mode you can not drop the lowpass below 63hz and there no equalization for the subwoofer output. But not everybody would consider those a necessity. I personally would have preferred to have had them.
