How far can i push a 12" kicker L7

I'm still not sure what amp I'll be using, but I'll probably put out an average of about 900 rms. But I'll really wanna push 'em hard on cruises and shows, like around 1200w rms.

Will the 12" kicks be able to with stand that abuse, cause they're rated for 750w rms. Or should upgrade to 15" L7s, which handle 1000w rms?

The reason I'm sorta staying away for the 15" is cause the need about 1 cu. ft. more space for a ported enclosure. I've got that kinda of space in the cab, its just that i'd be a pretty tight fit.

I see two wrong post here......you figure which two.........

to the poster:

even the 12" L7 would like at leasy 2.25 ported to work...if 1.0 cuft is too much, you may need to find a smaller driver, or one more suited for small sealed.

he's rite.......once the suspension is broken in........it takes 600watts for them to start fuc.kin up

Kicker 04L7s are much MUCH MUCH more reliable than the 02 version... much cleaner, can handle as much abuse as you wanna put to them..* within reason of course..* just be smart in the box specs and match it with power rating... more people blow l7s from

A... not enough power...

B.... Box is too small or too big...

C...... Don't have good output off their deck therefore has distortion from the amplifier via gain too high...

u 4got D. the support that holds the coils and spider and cone together always burn off over a period of time...its only held 2gether by glue and onec it melts the coil, spider, and cone come apart

i've seen this happen plenty of time 2 few different people

kicker fix the problem when they made the solox

maybe they need to do the same with the L7 and L5 line

i would love to see them bring back the round solobarics..those bound.they maynot handle as much power as the L7's but they r some low end monsters.....i plan on buying 3 12's and see what i can do with them

if any part burns, it's the VC, which is too much power...a majority of whaty we see is people putting thousands of watts on a woofer with 750rms....and that wouldn't be a manufacture defect....yet powered properly, I've seen them last for years.........

Yea, but plus another 1 cu. ft. for the other second sub (which I didn't mention). I can go about a total of 9 cu. ft. for the 15" which should be enough. Just like I said before it'd be tight fit since thats all. I'd have increased the height of the box by about 3-4 inches. It should work though...

these are beasts. Ive got 2 12 L7's 4 ohm with a KX1200.1. ive got gains and everything set right. I love em. I listen to rap/hip hop and im pretty happs with the output. Ive got a pioneer and i usually get the volume on the HU at 35 for HARD bumpin. 25 is normal for me. BTW it goes to like 62 or 65 so i barely turn it up. But dont let a few posts turn your decision away from kicker. Great products overall.
