How do you guys think I did for a budget system?

Got a Dodge Neon about 4 months ago with front and back speakers blown, just the dash speakers working so I decided I'd put all new speakers in, then I decided hell I might as well amp them. Then I decided I really missed having a sub so I figured might as well. Heres what I ended up with:

Alpine Type-R 1042d -10" DVC 4 ohm, 500W RMS ($65)

Alpine Type-S SPS600- 6.5" front door speakers 80W RMS ($20)

Hifonics ZX7500- 2 channel amp, 250x2 @4, 500x2 @2, 1000x1 @ 4RMS ($50)

Jenson XA2125 +distro block- 2 channel amp, 175x2 @2 RMS ($40)

4awg Memphis Audio wiring kit ($20)

50ft of 16awg speaker wire ($15)

Still need to build a box for the sub and get some 6x9s for the back. The speakers will be wired down to 2 ohms per pair and front and backs will be run on their own channel. Sub will be wired down to 2 ohms and ran off 1 channel of the Hifonics so I'll have room to upgrade to 2 subs later if I feel the need. So for $200 I think I ended up with a pretty **** good system

But how do you guys think I did? Do you think I could've done any better with the money I spent?

Get some deadening material for the doors. Seal them up well. Build a good MDF box. Install everything clean and tight with good/clean grounds and you should be good to go. Should sound better than lot of systems I've heard that cost alot more but didn't have amped front stage and/or poor installation.

are those the prices you paid for the items bside em? if so those are REALLY cheap...r the items used or new?
Yea they are. The Type R sub and 6.5" Type S I got from the Best Buy outlet store on overstock.com auctions. Trying to get some Type S 6x9s but there aren't any up at the moment but hoping to get some for around $30. That stuff is open box/display merchandise so its basically new. The Hifonics I got off Craigslist from lady who works at a repo place and just wanted to make some extra money. The Jenson I got off Craigslist too and is also used.

This was about a 2 month process trying to put everything together. I actually bought 2 subs and an amp and then flipped it for an extra $50 3 days later after everything was said and done. So in all actuality I only spent $150 putting this together.

But I gotta tell you its alot of work. I searched craigslist, ebay, overstock, and this forum for an hour or two a day trying to find a good deal and something that I would be happy with. After a while it gets hard to not just buy something and wait for a better deal/better equipment to come up.

You should post up some pics, let us evaluate how you did //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Pics are coming. I'm still not done still have to get the sub (its being shipped),build the box, and actually mount the amps they're still just sitting in the car until I decide what I want to do with them.

Don't lie, you enjoyed it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

System is good for the price, but Jensen..... it kind of puts a blemish on the rest of the equipment, maybe keep your eye out for a matching hifonics in the future?

Yea I did, I have nothing else to do all day since I'm at school for the summer and all my friends are gone. It just got frustrating. But the Jenson is just a cheap amp to put 60-70W to all of my speakers for $40 I wasn't going to find anything better I don't think. I'll probably just hide it under the seat.
