how do voice coils work???

I just wanted to know how a voice coil works in a sub. If you have a dual voice coil with 300 rms 500 maxx, is that 150 rms and 250 max into each coil? thanks

Long story short, they are a copper tube (for lack of a better term) inside a magnetic field, which is what moves the cone up and down. It is an electro-magnet.
