How do I wire this?

I just got a new Kicker L7 and I am unsure on how to wire it.

I ordered the dual 4ohm, but got the 2ohm...since this is an international order I am not sending anything back, so I need to make this work somehow.

The amp I currently have is an mtx mxa4001, 200x2 at4ohm or 400x1 at 2ohm (will be changing this later to something more appropriate for this sub).

Is there any way I can make the amp work at 2ohm load and have the sub wired correctly?

The manual says that a dual 2 ohm will show me a 1ohm load in parallel and a 4ohm load in series. I wired it to get a 2ohm load from the amp but the coils are in series so I dont know what the hell did I do.

What can I do, other then change the amp? (I will once I get more money).

run each set of cables to there own channel...

im sure your amp is atleast 2ohm stable per channel.

at 2 ohms you will get more then 200 watts per channel

your gonna need to upgrade that amp sooner or later though...

check how stable that amp is at those ohms

surely if the amp is stable for 2ohms bridged then it can handle 2 ohms per channel right?

or am i not thinking right.. have a bad heache and couldn't think straight all day =/

That's a typo you have there. It's 200x1 @ 4 ohms.

The amp doesn't look like it's 1 ohm stable. So you're stuck with either 1 ohm or 4 ohm and your amp doesn't support 1 ohm. There is no way you could get a 2 ohm load unless you just hook up one voice coil.

If you bought it from a store, they should cover shipping back to them and then the replacement back to you since the error was their fault.

I just noticed something...I am not sure if I am right here:

The amp is a D class, since the model is 4001 it supposed to be 1ch, but it has 2 outputs.

Then I read the manual and it says 200rms per channel at 4ohm, and 400rms per channel at 2ohm. So I guess thats 400 rms at 2ohm per output? So that would mean 800 total for both?

im guessing the 2 sets of outputs are for ease of installation

Page says it has 1ch, but it has 2 outputs labeled Speaker 1 and Speaker 2 and each has a + - connection.



I dont get how this works then...if I hook up a sub to just Speaker 1, it should give me 200rms at 4ohm? So I should be able to hook up 2x200rms? Or not?

Should I meanwhile just run 2 cables, 1 to each coil?
