How do I get rid of alternator whine?

I just bought one of those little FM transmitters that plugs into the cigarette lighter of my car for my portable MP3 player so I could listen to it using my factory car stereo. It works just fine and I'm very pleased with it so far except I am getting a fair amount of alternator whine in the audio through the car speakers. Is there a way to get rid of this noise?

I am using a factory stock setup. I have not modified anything (yet).

My setup is as follows:

Car: 1999 Chevrolet Lumina (bone stock)

Portable mp3 player: Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra

Car FM transmitter: Griffin iTrip Auto Universal Plus

Again; everything works fine and I'm perfectly happy with this setup except for the annoying alternator whine in the background of the audio.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

unhook the alt and spank it til it stops whining. i've heard crap about those ground loop isolators, but when i used mine back in the day it actually worked. only ones i've seen are for rca though, maybe if you hooked your speakers into a high input to rca adapter and then hooked up a rca to mp3 adapter then you could put in the ground loop iso inbetween the rca-mp3 and just forget about your cig lighter thing altogether.
