Its true that JL's prices are not good...but performance wise they are realitily good subs..

THere is no reason to insult someone who knows very little about a bussiness...Had I know JL's were over priced i'd be rolling with 4 15 K's by now...(and hopefully will before the summer)

but the bottom line is stop the flame wars...its getting rediculus and i think its giving car audio a bad name
We didn't really flame, well I didn't flame JL. I said they are great subs, but greatly overpriced. If you think this is a flame, then you are in for a surprise when someone truly rips into JL...

This isnt the only topic im talking about

I mean its turning into

45% flames

25% newbie questions

of thoes 25% newbie q's

65% are turned into flames

btw im pulling numbers out of my ***

also

I'm not a die hard JL fan by anymeans...but we all have a flavor

I like my jls

I dont like RF's but to someone who does...well good for them.

I've had enough namebrands run through the shop to pick up on what I like.

When I started though...no one around here had JL's except the higher end comp cars...and there was like 3 of them...everyone else was running RF's. So I got JL's

Uniformed and ignorant...thats what makes a newbie a newbie.

Lol, there aren't any major flames besides the flame forum...they are mild flames...but I'm usually good to noobs...I was once one...so I treat them with respect, I know what it's like to know jack shit...lol...

i have no intention of flaming at anyone. hell..your first subs are better then what i had. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

LOL i doubt that

2 6 1/5 home speakers glued together???

That was my first system

followed by a radio shack 12

IN a period of 3 months i ran through prob 8 diff configuratoins till I finally cut a deal on a set of JL's...

Still at that time best buy install bays owned me.

I've ran the same V1's for 2 years now...since then I've decided I'd never buy them again unless I got an awesome deal on the

i had road gear subwoofers..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i was like "whoa!! $24 for a 12" !//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

hehe

For awhile my friend and I were hording the $17 Jensen XS12 12's and were going to make the crappiest SPL vechical ever...fell through after the SUV we were goign to build it in blew up in a parking lot...I swore the best place to put a ground wire was on a gas tank...jk

THe battery backed up onto the frame and started a fire

I got to agree that JL's are pretty nice and overpriced....However, I think they meet their dollar value. I have two friends with 2 10" W3's...one in a sealed and one in a bandpass. As much as bandpass gets ripped apart, I have to say the bandpass sounds twice as sweet as my friend with the sealed. I think JL makes some good quality subs. The only reason I didnt buy them is becuase I already have 2 friends with them....So I got 2 Alpine Type-R's

that in itself is pretty ignorant. newbies aren't ignorant. they ARE uninformed. hence newbie. you cant be NEW at something and know everything. and just becaure you are new, doesnt mean you dont WANT to learn and experience new things. if all your budget would afford you is 2 jensen 12's then so be it. theres nothing wrong with a very low end system for your first system. now i do agree that some newbies may be ignorant just because they dont want to sound uninformed, however, i really hate stereotypes like "newbies are ignorant" or "newbies are stupid". if you keep that up, no newbies are going to ask newbie questions. they will be forver stuck in newbieland.

but back to the topic...im an ametur, i guess, at car audio. nearly 18...i've learned alot over the past year since i started. i'm learning everyday whats good and whats better. i bought those power acoustic subs (in my sig) for about $90 each. maybe not the best deal....but they sound ok...and they hit pretty hard. I'm actually pretty content with them for now...in a year maybe ill look into getting new subs...but there's no point now because im going to college soon and cant take the car.

Yeah i have 2 jl10w3's in a prowedge box

i got them for $150 in great shape

and yeah, im cheap!

For what i spent I think they sound good dollar for dollar. More SPL would be nice though. But for the price i cant complain.

i used to have some RF 12's in their ported bandpass

got them even cheaper

sold them for more than i paid

Once again, yeah im cheap!

JL is expensive. But in my mind its worth it. JL has their own unique sound, I love JL woofers. When money becomes less of an Issue I know I will have JL woofers in my car. regret getting rid of my 12w3's I had. They defeintily arent SPL woofers except the W7 which can get quite loud.

I guess it all comes down to what floats your boat:p

Woah, thread revival. I'm a newbie but I went with all eclipse and alpine HU. But I've noticed lots of rap stars use JL, just watch mtv's cribs some time.
