Ok so I sold one of my VFL 150.1s to a guy here on the forum and he said that "It sounds awsome" but he was getting a pop when turning it on or off. So i told him to check his RCA's and also to check his ground. Well today he gets back to me saying that it needs new transitors and its going to cost $75. Is this possible for and amp to be perfect put yet cost $75 to repair?

I had three of these amps. I ran one at a time. When i would sell one I would take the one out of my car and ship that one and put another one in and so on. I sold all three and they all sounded they same to me. Actually the one he got seemed to put out a lil more power as the gain didnt have to be set as high. He said he talked to DB-R and he is the one who gave him the quote.

Here it what he PM'ed me,

Was up man got the amp today i just want to say that the shit sounds awesome but there is one problem when the amp turns on or off my sub makes a popping noise do you know what that is other than that it sounds great.

Its not the amp, its him. Don't send him a dime.

I'm pretty sure they don't "go bad." It has to do with the car's stock electrical. The "pop" if I'm not mistaken is a surge of energy that occurs when the car initially turns on. Most HU's [i believe] will disgard this power by not even turning on before the surge is over. [Which is why it takes most HU's a second to start up]

It's basically just a relay that pauses for a second before sending power to the speakers.

Summary: Tell the *** to get a new HU

I just dont want to diss the guy cause I know he is going to leave me a crap feedback. I just wanted to make sure I am in the right, I even have pics of the guts and there isnt anything burnt in either one of my 3 VFL 150.1's

Im so confident that nothing is wrong with it I told him I would buy it back, but now that im talking with you guys I dont think that will be happening. I think I will email DB-R and ask the same question and see what they say.
