So im at a dealer looking for a truck. And the guy who is helping me is named zack. Well hes showing me around and I spot this beautiful full size quad cab step side Silverado over in the corner. So I go up to it and notice the price tag of $30,000. but I still ask to test drive it. It was awesome handled nicely had all the options I wanted and it was the exact color I wanted. However $30,000 was a bit out of my price range. But then zack comes up and he has an inventory list in his hands and he says well I think this one is on sale if you want we can go in and talk numbers.
So we go in and after shooting numbers back and forth they say the lowest they will go is $2500 down my payments will be $379 a month for 72 months. So I tell them ill have to think about it even though it is a really good deal. So the next day I call up and ask to talk to a manager. I get one on the phone and tell him I want my payments to be about $325 a month and to see what he could do about that. So a little while later I get a call back from a guy named mark. I guess zack was off so now mark is helping me. He says to come on in and they got my payments close to where I wanted them.
So I go in and they offer me $328 a month for payments with $2500 down. Making the truck around $19,000. I’m thinking to myself what a great deal. This truck has a trade in value of $20,000 I wonder why its so cheap. I got a car fax and told them id be back in the morning to finalize papers and I didn’t have my checkbook on me for the down payment. I told the guy mark id be back at 9:00 exactly in the morning which is when they open.
So 9:00 there I am check book in hand ready to get this truck. But wait a minute what’s this mark is no where to be found. The manager tells me hell be in in 5 mins and well start everything then. Well and hour goes by and im trying to be patient but at this point im just pissed. So I walk up to the manager and tell him to start the paper work and screw mark he dont need to be here anyways. So the manager begins my paper work and finally a little later mark shows up I sign everything and make says il be right back with your truck. So im standing around checking out the escalades and some of the other cool cars in their show room. Then mark comes down and signals for me to follow him. We walk out to the garage and what do I see but a small white 2004 2-10 work truck. He says he ya go heres your truck. My reply is that isn’t my truck. My truck is a full size grey step side. He looks at his paper and geos no the price and vin match are inventory sheet. So I tell him that zack and I were testing driving and working the deal for the full size.
Now im really pissed off we go back inside and he talks to the manager. Im standing outside the office extremely angry all I want to do right now is leave but I cant because I had someone drop me off so I could take the truck home. Well then the manager comes out and tells me that zack got the vin numbers mixed up. The price of the full size I wanted was $30,000 and and that’s what the manager was getting his numbers of of when we were negotiating. He thought it was for the s-10 and that’s why the price was so cheap. He then tells me im about to get a sweet deal today. So we go into his office he prints out a new contract with the full sizes vin on it. I sign away. And leave a very happy man with a brand new truck. And a feeling of pride as I just totally pwned the chevy dealer.
