How are McIntosh amps?

I've rarely seen people with Mac amps. I know they're quite big and heavy, they aren't particularly powerful amps and they cost a lot. How are their quality and anyone have any commments on their McIntosh setup?

My 4 channel was built by McIntosh however has the Clarion name on it....... google it, i aint bs'ing. However I have onlly seen a McIntosh system once and your paying for more than just power from it. . . I know that sounds silly but you are also paying for build quality, customer service and support, prestige and aesthetics. Solid, well made amps. They know it and think very highly of themselves and charge you accordingly.

There car amps are nothing special imo. Neither are there newer home amps without the transformers. Mcintosh=old tube amps, and some older SS amps are pretty good. Car stuff it's just not worth it imo..

i had a clarion dpx1001.1 which was supposidly designed by arc audio...

it was a complete pile of shit

i dont think that amp was actually built by McIntosh

I used an mc440m which was a "good" little amp and definitly had WOW factor... Was it a stellar amp like the DLS stuff or Brax / Helix amps? No... just was a good little amp and that was all.
