Hello everyone, I dont post much but i have had a problem with the Power Bass thin s-12T and would like some opinions on what may be going wrong . I am a Power Bass dealer and have recently had a request for a shallow sub , now I haven't had a lot of experience with shallows so that is why i am asking . Now before the critics come in , I know that Power Bass is not Sundown or TREO or FI or so on but i have not had too much trouble with them sense i took them on but , this customer has smoked two of them in less than a weak . Here are the details. PB thin s-12T in a sealed truck box about .8 cubes with poly fill, being drove by an older Kenwood KAC-X521 bridged mono. He smoked the first one within 6 hours and the second one in about 2 total play time . I did not do the install so after the first one went and done a shake down of his system and cannot find the culprit unless he is just driving it too hard before break in , in witch i have never had that problem before. I checked the amp for a clean signal with a scope and all is good , good ground and little to no voltage sag at full volume . So what do you guys think? What am I missing ?

powerbass isnt what it use to be. when i sold them 10yrs ago they were amazing and could compare there subs and componets to anything and price was amazing. its a cheap woofer that is 300rms...

I have not done much at all with shallows. I have done some installs using CV and had good luck with them but not with the new stuff. I have recently backed down his amp and pulled a lot of the poly out ( he had way too much ) and am giving the sub ample time to break in and after such time i will re-tune the system to a conservative peak and see how it holds up then. I get a lot of frugal customers and so far PB has fit the bill for them but if i continue to have these problems i will find a different vender.

Giving subs more power really wakes them up. The MRP-500 is pretty low power. You would really notice more authority in your bass.

I’m sure they will be a good budget setup. I think they will lack some midbass but door treatment is super important so definitely be sure to do...
