Horn work log (big pics)

did you have to cut the connector off of the power supply and strip the wires?
Nope, I used a connector that came from a video card. The powersupply has not been modded at all and could hook up to a computer at a moment's notice.

Yes. But even then, it's not really needed. You can always buy some male ended pin connectors. I'm not sure what size the molex female connectors are but they look pretty common. Or, if you really want to be ghetto, you can just shove the wires into the puѕѕy of the female connector.

Somewhere on the net there is a tut. on how to properly mod your power supply to do that. I know there is 2 blacks per pin and you use one and not the other. I think it is the one to the left or something like that of the yellow.

you can use either... but anyway....

also, there was a guide published in a magazine over here in Australia, showing how to rewind the transformer in the PSU, and mod it to give 13.8volts...

You can use either? The tut. I seen said that one of the grounds ran at x amount of volts and the other ground was at a different amount. At first I thought it was a mistake but didn't want to take any chances.

if its black, its ground, and they are all connected to the same place internally anyway.

It's not running off of my computer, just a spare power supply that I have sitting around for testing like this.

Music at full tilt sounds amazing. In about an hour, I'm going to put my deflex pads in and then play with this toy some more and decrease the air in the compression chamber. Right now though, I'm going to browse the internet and listen to music.

Well, I just did some testing with tones and I maxed out my radio shack meter at it's 126dB reading from 60hz to 350hz. Above and below that, it started droping. 150-200hz seemed a little peaky and extremely loud. It actually gave me a headache. 35hz is pretty weak but you can tell it's there. With the compression chamber the way it is, it gets pretty muddy at higher volumes below 40hz.

I'm heading out now to build some new baffles and put in the second skin deflex pads then I'll play some more with this.

I haven't had the chance to play around with the compression chamber yet and will do that in the morning after I get my deflex pads in.
I actually just found the manual for the mids...

Fs = 55hz

SPL = 87dB

Qms = 9.43

Qes = .77

Qts = .71

Vas = 10.19 l
hmm lookin at those specs i'm not sure if it will be wise to build a box like that for that MID

speakers that have a low q(.3 and lower) and have a low fs is more recommended for a horn type box

126dBs on a termlab, at 44Hz? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
