Horn Help....

Alright, I have been researching and looking around for a while on this website....and abroad...I have came to the assumption that horns would be a great option to clear up some of my high frequency problems...I have just a couple questions and assumptions...

1) Do these require an expert to install and get them to sound right..?As I would be the one to install them, I don't want to do ALOT of work just to get some horns inside my dash...In other words can you somewhat install them correctly without imaging them JUST right and removing alot of my dash? (84 cutlass)

2) As far as the EQ goes, would this be REALLY necessary..?How much am I looking for a EQ?

3) How much power will these require..?

4) As a whole setup, horns and eq...How much am I looking to spend? Maybe a round about figure...Include just basic horns and basic EQ...Not looking to spend 3 grand on 2 horns and a EQ...

Appreciate everyone's help..

Horns are very very efficient...you will not need much power to them....turst me. I'm running like a little over a volt from my amp to the horns I have (s/n is 108 on my crossfires). They will need EQ work, I have EQT's just sitting waiting to be installed and hopefully they will help. They don't sound very good without some kind of EQ work, I've tuned mine a little by ear but hopefully it'll sound better eq'd.

I paid 250 for my crossfire horns, and 120 for my EQT's. Wouldn't mind having the h701 though ;P.

Should some research be done and time invested before I go through this path?

I was just doing some simple reading and came across the idea of horns...I've read some about them before, but got out of this scene a while back...I've been frequenting the board a little bit here lately just getting up to date on stuff...

I think I will get my highs set up with all of the amps and everything, and if I am still not satisfied I will come back and ask some more questions...

Thanks to all that chimed in....cool peoples..

Untuned, most horns will sound hollow and spitty. It'll sound congested, but thats where the EQ comes into play. The EQ is critical if you want to get the most out of them.
