i am in dire need of my car stereo system, JBL BP600.1 and a Kicker Comp VR

I just need to know how to get a car amp hooked up in my dorm room and the necessary parts for the job. if someone could tell me where to get the parts and exactly what i need and how to do it, that would be great. i would greatly appreciate it.

thanks

all it needs is DC voltage, as im sure you know. they have these things calls AC converters that plug into the wall and have small wires output DC voltage for fans/neons/whatever. the problem is they have like 20 guage or higher wiring so its nowhere near enough to run an amp.

im not sure if they sell bigger ones or not. if you know anything about electronics or have a tech school enar you with an electrical department, im sure they could tell you exactly what you need. in a class at my old tech school they build RC cars and put tape players/homemade amps/tweets on the underside of it. the cars were big enough to hold a small child. it was funny b/c their amps would push 80watts and it was on that ugly color PCB like k7S5A motherboards. they had a few little heatsink around it to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif just odd how small it was

you think a radio shack would have some?

i was thinking of maybe getting a car battery with a charger,

hook the power to pos, and ground to neg on batt. would that work?

your better off getting a AC to DC power supply....i myslef think the idea of a non drycell Lead acid battery in a house is foolish....but thats just me....

What you want is called a DC Power Supply. I believe Rat Shack has one rated 25 amps, which is good enough for about 300 watts. If you need more than that check out these guys:

They have units up to about 50-60 amps. Using a battery and charger is a bad idea cuz of acid and also cuz battery chargers are not filtered and make a lot of 60 Hz hum (like alternator whine except lower).
