hook up an iPod through auxiliary output?

This is probably a very basic question, but I've never used the auxiliary output on my CD player. I was concerned about investing in an iPod when I thought I'd have to use one of those FM transmitters, making the sound quality go down on my car stereo. Well I have an auxiliary output, and I was wondering if there is a type of cord I can buy to directly hook an iPod up to my CD player using it. Anyone have any answers or experience doing this?

yes, what is the aux in connection type?

You can buy that cable, pretty much no matter what connections, at most electronic chains.

You just don't have any CONTROL over the iPod like you would with most iPod adapters.

whats the aux output look like? is it rca cables coming out or a port where u can plug something in?

Some are so hard to navigate with though. You are better just using your ipod to pick songs or use your playlists.

How do you mean I don't have any control over it?

And how do I find out what the connection type is? It's been a while since I looked at it, but if my memory serves me correctly, it looks the same as the RCA inputs, except there is just one wire instead of two...

You can control the ipod through the head unit if you get something that company makes, like if you had an alpine or w/e. But i think its too hard to use and if its an rca output you can save like $30 and just get an ipod to rca cable and they usually come with power and ground wires so it charges your ipod too. Check ebay, don't get one that plugs into the headphone spot though.

I wouldn't have a desire to control the ipod through my head unit. I would be perfectly fine just using the iPod, I just want the music to be directly connected for the best sound quality possible.

Does that sound right that the aux input might be just one wire and not two? In which case, I would only plug in the red side of the RCA cable to it and do nothing with the white? Or what would I do here?

yea just wire up the power and ground wire to your wire harness or wherever. works great for me

Oh yea...I didn't even notice the power and ground. I thought it was just the RCA. Sounds like a pretty good set-up.
