In the process of trying to set up a wireless network for my new place and I am running into a few problems.
Currently, I have a wired cable modem and was looking to add a wireless router on to piggyback anything that isn't wired of my office area.
I plan to add more as I go, but right now the only thing I really NEED the wireless for is a PS3 that's a few rooms away.
The desktop is old as sin, but it's what I have that I've unpacked and set-up.
I bought a NetGear WNR1000 Wireless N150 router, since I don't need to a lot of top of the line features, but I still want some speed.
However, when I try to use the disk and run it, it gives me an error, and will not let me continue past the error to help me install.
I'm fine with not getting a wireless connection on my desktop, but when I connect the wired modem to the computer... I'm fine. If I piggyback the wireless router in the connection and use one of the 4 wired output ports, I can't connect. The damn thing lights up and flashes on, but I get nothing.
Meanwhile, the PS3 registers the router, but won't connect either. It's getting a DNS Error.
The error from the desktop is 'There is no ethernet adapter.'
But according to my network settings, this dinosaur has:
CNET Pro200WL PCI fast ethernet Adapter
Someone care to help a brother out?
