Home made vs prefab

If homemade really should be done, what do I need & what program can help me?

Here are both my subs:

TS-W309D4 - 12" Champion Series Subwoofer with Dual 4 © Voice Coil | Pioneer Electronics USA

Currently have them in a ****** sealed enclosure.

This box is ported & rated at 1.75 cu ft (which according to the specs of the sub are in range)

Thanks in advance for input.. .learning rookie here

A custom enclosure lets you run the volume, port area and tuning that will both meet your output and response goals, as well as letting the sub be as efficient as possible based on the power its seeing. Your sub has a pretty high Qts of 0.81 so its much more suited for a sealed application. If gaining output is what you're after, a 4th order would be the way to go. If the sub is seeing rated power, you could go factory specs sealed, then do a 1:2 ratio to keep things daily.

WinISD is a free download and will help you model different box designs.

You will need to discover Fs, Qts, and Vas of your woofers to predict response (should be available in the manual or on Pioneer website). Be careful of units with your design software, if Vas is in liters for example, just click on the l until it becomes ft^3 if you need cubic feet, change meters to inches, etc.
