PM njsm and ask him where he ordered his spindle @... I support small bussiness, but from my experience, car audio shops are always out to rip you off.
unless you spend soo much time in there, or get a job in there, or know someone that works there thats in really good with the owner that you've known since kindergarden...lol, otherwise i'd forget about walking into a car audio shop cept to check out equipment.
It's so funny when you ask them how much for a specific item, and they tell you 3x what it's worth. Of course, most of us would then counter their obsurd prices with online prices, and they get hostle and feriously upset. I like to push their buttons that way, and when they say, "Then go to ebay and buy it there" I respond with, "hey that's not a bad idea! Thanks for the great ideaunless you spend soo much time in there, or get a job in there, or know someone that works there thats in really good with the owner that you've known since kindergarden...lol, otherwise i'd forget about walking into a car audio shop cept to check out equipment.
oh then if they figure out you have no intentions of buying anything, then it gets really interesting, like they are physically trying to push you out of the store.....lolIt's so funny when you ask them how much for a specific item, and they tell you 3x what it's worth. The best part about it is I never go in there with the intention of buying anything.
You can't fault a shop for its prices, if they're pricing competitively...after all, the point of a shop is to make a profit, and to do that they have to cover costs an online retailer doesn't have. Bet it's a whole lot cheaper to lease warehouse space than it is to lease floor space for a brick & mortar store //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifIt's so funny when you ask them how much for a specific item, and they tell you 3x what it's worth. You can, however, fault the employees for being idiots.

I'm an engineer, not a retailer, but I think people go into a store for these two main reasons: 1) To see/ touch/ feel a product in person rather than just seeing pictures on the internet, and 2) Hoping for a price for that product that's at least comparable to what they've seen on the internet. Now ... If you go in to see it, decide you like it, but then buy it somewhere off the internet, just realize that you may not have the option of seeing it/ touching it/ feeling it, or buying it, next time.Dealers are not trying to rip people off, we are just trying to keep our doors open. You must realize that most equipment online is sold at or below dealer. How are we suppossed to compete with that and still look good to you guys. It is very frustrating.
And to you guys who say screw local dealers, or I only go in their to look at product, you are only making it worse. Car audio is were it is today because of small B&Ms. Most B&Ms got started by guys like us that enjoyed the hobby, not to rip people off. In a few years it is gonna be hard to find B&Ms, the internet will take over. When this happens you can kiss your local comps goodbuy. There will be no one to host them. Then the highend mobile SQ/SPL manufacturers will decline because the only B&Ms will be CC and BB. They are not gonna push highend products. There may come a point in the not so distant future when sony Xplode may be considered highend because they have no competiton. Companies like Atomic, IA, RE, DD,and other manufactures of highend SPL products will have no market. NO comps mean no market. Smll B&Ms are still the meat of this industry but the internet will be the indusries downfall.
Well put. Radio Shack still exists however. If I need a ceramic fuse for my microwave, they're there. How they still exist I'm unsure. High prices are not a concern when I NEED IT NOW. There must be enough demand. I've been grateful more than once for their overpriced, readily available wares.I'm an engineer, not a retailer, but I think people go into a store for these two main reasons: 1) To see/ touch/ feel a product in person rather than just seeing pictures on the internet, and 2) Hoping for a price for that product that's at least comparable to what they've seen on the internet.
