Does anybody know of a speaker switch that allows speakers with the RCA-type plug and speakers with no connectors(just wires).

my girlfriends dad is trying to hook up two different kinds of speakers to the same source, but i cant find a switch that allows both types.

I'm looking for something similar to this...

Also, can I use something like this to use my speaker system as surround sound for a dvd player and my tv?

I currently cannot have surround sound from anything but my tv, because I only have one set of RCA's ran to the speakers.

So what im asking is, will this carry the signal for the sound alone?

I need them to be without RCA connectors.

If its that easy that way, can I just remove the RCA connectors from the wires that have them and use them that way?

Just make a custom adapter, solder male RCA ends on the speaker wire (or whatever it is). Then make a female RCA adapter with 6" or so leads sticking out of it that way you have your speaker wire part, and if you want you can pull it off and use the RCA.

Some very low end boom boxes have them... Atleast they use to.

Ah I see...

All the boom boxes I could remember were just bare wire.

Thats what it is, he doesnt want to buy anything else since he already has these...
