ho do you tell how many ohms a sub is

ok i got this weird guy next door who's always bringing me subs speakers and head units that he finds in the trash and that where they seam to wind up is back in the trash after i take the magnets out of them . well today he brought me this big sub i guess that's what it is it about 15 inch but it don't have a sticker on the bottom of the magnet that tells how many ohms it is . i have a dmm but when ever i hook it up it reads 0 .so what do i have to do put power to it and see .i haven't put power to it yet to see if it works i didn't want to blow it buy hooking it up to the wrong ohms

you need to buy some ohm

so it dont have to be hoked up to power to get an ohm reading ok .well another big magnet for my collection .they work great for picking up screws or keeping screws all in one place . and i would goggle it if there was a name on it but their aint

Open it up it says in the motor i think.

No no thats how many watts it takes where one second = 1000 watts. It starts smoking after 4.1 seconds, 4100 watts.

i did that once to a sub it was cool .i found out what it was it was a soundstream 12 inch one of the older models . hooked it up to a amp at 4 ohms and it went up then down and didn't come back up . i could rebuild it but it don't seam worth it ide say its go to be like 15 years old

Your ohms are probably discharged - hook the sub up to a battery charger for a few days to get the ohms back.
