HO alt

I'm looking for a HO alternator for a 2006 toyota corolla CE. I am currently using the stock alternator and battery, which is powering roughly around 1200 rms(two audiobhan subs) at 1.5ohms with a mono D amp, im thinking on purchasing another mono D amp so that each amp can power the subs individually. This setup will need a HO alternator, i'm looking for something that has HO at low idle also not just at high RPM's, any ideas where i can find one, i've called people in Toronto and Brampton and haven't found any luck, even searched online, nothing! Oh yeah and i have the big 3

call Ohio Generator, they may have a solution for you.

note that a 4 cyl will suffer when trying to turn an H.O. alt. as current increases, so does the resistance for the pulley to turn, making the engine work harder. this will result in a reduction in engine power as well as fuel mileage. not trying to talk you out of it, but it's worth mentioning.

a local shop may be able to re-wind and put in a higher rated regulator.

lower output at idle is not what you want. you want the opposite of that. you want more output at idle. Irragi also has alts with higher output at idle.

since you're looking to add a second amp, i agree you want more alt output (plus a good, new AGM battery or two matching AGM).

note that the OP wants to run two 1200W amps.

also note that you'll attain 1200W RMS for only brief instances (assuming your amp is even capable of that output after voltage drop). music is dynamic, and to attain rated power you need a strong signal in the recording, a high volume level from the HU that is perfectly matched with the input sensitivity of the amplifier, and the signal needs to be at a frequency where the sub impedance is actually it's nominal impedance (and not close to the fs of the driver).

most people give their subs less than 100W for 99% most of the time. amplifier power is grossly misunderstood.

determine the need for a higher output alt by monitoring voltage. always start with good wiring (big 3) and a good main battery (AGM with high Reserve Capacity).

if you can't keep the system voltage above 13.8 or so when the vehicle is running and the system is at a listening level, then consider an alt.

My current voltage drop is 11.8-12.2 when pounding the system at idle, even with the big 3 setup(0 gauge wire was used). Also, i've replaced the main battery with a yellow top. Stock alt and no caps. The Irragi alt company mentioned does not have an alternator for my car 06 Toyota Corolla, its very hard to find an alt for my car. Still need some help, I've checked everywhere, called and still nothing for my car.

yea, your car is simple and reliable, but a difficult car for a large system since there isn't much of an aftermarket part selection. an h.o. alt will use more engine power as well. i've ran H.O. alts on all of my cars, but they had a V6 or V8 specifically because i anticipated adding more electrical load.
