Sup guys, new at this audio stuff and have no idea what I'm doing. So my friend sold me Two 12 inch pioneer subs, and a 1000w amp for cheap since he got a new system.

I need to know what wires/kits I need to properly install these. He didn't give me any wires so whats in the pics is what I have(won't let me post pics so he gave me two 12 inch pioneer champion series subs, and sony xplod 1000w amp). Links would be appreciated!

'07 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X, stock HU.

Thanks!

3.) if you decide to jerry rig it yourself, please dont come on here, asking why your amp blew
he's asking us how to do it, which is the point of the forum. if you don't care to answer the question, why post?

OP:

here is a thread asking the same question:

http://www.caraudio.com/forums/wiring-electrical-installation-help/518695-building-sound-system-what-do-i-need.html

here is my summary answer:

* you also need an enclosure built to spec for the subs - 3/4" MDF or 7-ply plywood.

* you need a 4 awg or 1/0 amp wiring kit from a name brand that includes RCA cables.

* you want split loom for power wire under the hood, and ideally the entire length for all cables

* a pack of black zip ties and zip tie mounts for securing wires in-place

* a board to mount the amp to and hardware to mount the amp to the vehicle. avoid mounting the amp to the box. the reasons are plentiful, trust me... just avoid it.

* a drill and drill bit for making a hole in the floor for grounding, masking tape for defining an area for sand paper for removing paint, and a bolt sized for the grounding ring terminal. make the hole just big enough to run the bolt through.

* a firewall grommet for passing the power wire through the fire wall - and a drill and drill bit (a hole saw bit or step-bit) for making a hole large enough for the 4 awg or 1/0 grommet

* silicone tube to seal the firewall and ground penetrations to the vehicle to inhibit water ingress and rust

* 4 awg or 1/0 ring terminals for your big 3 - 5/16" for most, but 1/4" for the alt positive

* i prefer to mount my amps and subs with t-nuts and machine screws - most reliable method since you can strip out wood screws

* best way to secure ring terminals to large power wire is with a tabletop butane torch and low melting point solder. otherwise, a vice can crimp the connectors.

* i use heat shrink for everything i can. you can buy kits with various sizes at hardware stores. most is 2:1 so buy it as close to the size you need as possible - this means buy a wide range.

you're undertaking something that requires a collection of tools and the skill/experience with using them. the owner's manuals for the amp and subs will describe how to wire them. take your time and use the factory wiring as your guide for what your finished product should look like. good installations take time, even when you're experienced. a digital multi-meter is the most important tool for audio installs. i measure resistance on all wires before connecting them, but i also know what resistance i expect to see and what values will be indicative of a problem.

if you do not have the space, time, tools, and patience to do the install correctly, paying a shop is usually a safe bet. if you want to DIY, that's great! we're all DIYers. we're here to answer questions, but you'll have to do your homework and do a lot of reading. the research and effort is yours to give, we can provide guidance and advice, links to additional information, etc.

check out build logs for ideas on mounting.
