ok so i just installed a 2000w amp. my lights are dimming like crazy everybeat, i know if im not carefull im gonna kill my battery real quick. first thought that came to mind was HO alternator. but a friend who had the same problem only with a bigger amp, told me he just baught a gel batt instead. they are used for boats mostly cuz they dont realy discharge at all from non use. and they take 1/4 of the power to recharge as a wet-cell batt. he said it doesnt even take a minute or two for the gel batt to fully recharge. i alsmost believe him, hes got 3 1000w amps in his blazer. we went for a ride last night, an the lights dimmed very very little, it was hardly even noticable. I think the gel bat might be a good alternative to the HO altenator for small trips, less than 5hrs. but for a long hual, like a road trip, i dunno... cuz the amp would be still pullin more then the stock alt output, so its still tappin the batt anyways. but the gels recharge so effiencently it wont matter. an a big plus he can get me one at cost, instead of the $200-$400 retail. so what do you pll think?
