HO Alt....voltage question.

My crx has the h/o alt (from ho alts) and has adjustable regulator from 12-21v. is it ok for my system to idle at 15.3-15.5v instead of the 14.4v that normal cars do. especially seeing as i only drop to 14.9 with my setup (PA A3000 and a PG zx500). or should i tune the alt to a lower setting and if so whats the highest i want it to be at as a daily driver.

Will the amps handle the higher voltage?? Right now it seems pretty pointless to have it set higher, i doubt you're trying to get extra power out of those amps.

It probably won't hurt the amps, I'd be more worried about your car's electrical components getting damaged.

yea i dont know about the ecu getting damaged...at 15.5 i should be fine i think...the MLA module puts cars at like 15.3 all the time iirc

Most automotive electrical systems have a max upper limit of 16V of input. I have my 12V charging system adj. regulator set at ~15V.

exactly. what would be the point unless u got more out of the amps.

an ya im pretty sure the car electrical wont get messed up until its passed 16v.

also i changed it last night(its a screw on the back of the alt to change the charging voltage.) its alot better than the 13.5 i set my 145.4 with...
