Hmmm, to the puter geeks

well if you ever upgrade to the newer sockets, get a Sunbeam Tuniq Tower to cool the cpu.

pretty sure the best option for socket 462 is a Thermaltake Sonic Tower

wow thats odd...recommending thermaltake, wasn't that long ago that thermaltake was laughable.

WTF are you talking about ? A P2 is way more efficient clock-for-clock than a P4 ... The P4 is the absolute LEAST efficient processor basically ever made, other than, of course, the Celeron ...
A Sempron 3300+ performs about equal to an Athlon XP 2800+/2.8 GHz Pentium 4, although the 2800+ is better for gaming and the P4 is better for multi-tasking ...
P2 runs a smaller pipe as the AMD + codes were not based on the P4 they were based on P3. and a 2800+ is not equal to a P4 2.8 Ive owned both and its not close. I currently have 300 +- P4 2.8 computers around me running XP Pro and 3 XP 2800+ which is running RHE. I stand by what I said //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I really don't see that badong as giving you much advantage in cooling your CPU. That chimney isn't going to do squat.. it's just going to take the exact same temp air from slightly higher altitude (2 inches).

In fact, the hose completely destroys the airflow that the case was designed for. How is that air being exhausted? It comes directly in a tube and goes directly to the CPU. The reason there are so many hoses on that water cooling system, is because water must be pumped TO the CPU, and then hot water must be pumped AWAY from the CPU.... the same is true with air. If you're just pumping air TO the CPU, with no room for it to escape, it's not going to help at all.

Cases are designed with airflow in mind... that's why you generally get a hotter temperature if you leave the side of your case off. The airflow doesn't occur, and air w/the same temp festers in the same spot. With proper ventilation, you have air coming in and out of the case at all time, replacing stale/warm air with new air.

The badong is not going to sit directly on the cpu, the will be the standard cpu fan with a heatsink. My original plan was to have a fan attached to the side of the heatink to pull the hot air out, but I don't know if that will work.

Could you reword that?? I'm not understanding what you're trying to say..
Yeah, it's kinda hard to explain. Basically, there will be a heatsink on the CPU with a CPU fan on top of the heatsink and the badong will be coming off the cpu. I want to mount a little fan on the side of the heatsink, where it will pull the air from the heatsink and blow it out the side, I don't know if that will help or hurt the cpu temperature. I have seen a cpu fan that was made as Iam describing, with two fans. I will try to draw a pic in paint and post it if you still can't make out what I am saying

Finally done, here is basically how I plan on laying my case out. Keep in mind that there is gonna be a clear side with another case fan bringing air into the case, but I didn't know how to draw that on there.

I get where you're going with this.

In all honesty, I think you're going to put in more work/frustration than needed for a very minimal performance upgrade.

I think you could get almost the same performance if you just got a case w/a fan on the side that sucks inward. That should put cooler air directly on top of the CPU w/no hose for air to be trapped in. Even w/the chimney, the fans in the back are going to be subject to proximity of the PSU, and will still be warmer than if you were taking in air from the side of the case.... there's nothing there to heat the air up at all.

That and get yourself a zalman fan for the CPU and you'll be good to go.

I will definitely get a better cpu fan, but I like how the badong looks, I think it looks koo. Makes the case look rice-tastic, and adds 5hp lol:rolleyes:
