Not sure of the model number but it is my mothers 2006 VW Jetta factory radio with built in 6disc changer and input from XM-SAT receiver in trunk.
She no longer subscribes to XM and now has an MP3 player. The radio has no aux input that im aware of so the cheapest input i could think of was an FM transmitter. I've always had experience of poor quality sound when using them out of the box. I've tried many, and the best one i ever used was in the late 80's to connect my Diskman. It used an auto switchable Antenna tap to feed the transmitter's signal to the radio. I have an old weak (aka 'FCC Legal') iTrip that I have tested and prodded to find an attenuation bypass point. Tests have it working up to 60ft clearly but seeing as how it's going to be in my mother's car, i don't want her being a mobile pirate radio station. I decided to leave it as it was and strip the Ant wire away from the power input cable and route it directly to a tap for the car radio Antenna.
Since this would require digging into the dash a bit, i figured i would check for any other possible professionally known alternatives that i could check out while im in there.
Is anyone familiar enough with these radios to offer some input about a fun do-it-yourselfer way to 'get some input'?
