highs cut out at 15?

i have an alpine cde-9846 and my highs cut out when i reach 15 on the volume. i just rewired my system with new double shielded rca's, and new wires from my headunit to my speakers. I did so about a month ago and everything was excelent till last sunday. Then now if i am at volume 15 or above all the mids and highs cut out of the doors and my subs just keep thumping. If i turn it off and then back on, the highs come back until i then get to 15 again. i normally use my headunit between 25 and 28 with no problems until now. sorry for the long post, but does anyone know what i can do????
