high level adaptor causing noise?

I just added an amp to my factory head unit.

The amp is installed on top of the radio inside the dash.

When I unplug the rcas from the amp to the adaptor the whinning noise goes away. Turning off the radio doesnt help, and there isnt any noise in the rear speakers that are not amped.

Also I spliced into a ingnition on hot wire off the back of the head unit for a remote turn on, could this be a problem?

You should check the factory ground on the HU. And also the ground on the amp as well. Make sure they are both clean and secured to a good solid piece of metal that is connected to the frame.

The wire you spliced into... it only receives power when the ACC switch on the steering column is on correct? That should be fine for use as a remote turn on. If you think that might be the problem, run a line into your fuse box and find something else that turns on with the ACC switch.. like the cigarette lighter.
