High end speakers or high end amps

I think he means that good speakers are more important than good amps for SQ. Not the dependant on the listener part.
EDIT: And I REALLY should pay more attention to stuff that's in bold. Really. I feel stupid now. But it's late, so whatever. =p Relative SQ is listener dependant, Absolute SQ is measurable.

And I agree. I happen to own a pair of high quality speakers (Rainbow) and low quality speakers (Boss), along with a high quality amp(PPI) and a low quality amp(Jensen), both pushing within 10 watts of each other (RMS).

Good speakers + good amp = good SQ

Good speakers + not good amp = good SQ

Bad speakers + good amp = bad SQ

Bad speakers + not good amp = bad SQ

100% experienced by me, equal installs, ~equal power, different equipment.
That's.. basically what I said. Good sq can be had from good drivers, and not-so-good amps.

SQ is subjective, however. This is because it depends on tastes.

"Did I read correctly that you are thinking of mounting tweets behind your head?

Mount them in the A pillars if you are tight on space."

Sorry, I don't know how to do the quote thingy. Technically, they are behind my head...realistically, since I ride so deep and dirty, they are BESIDE my head. But I will consider the pillars. Like I said...I got a long rebuild to go.

If good sound can be had with great drivers and "Boss" amps, why is everyone buying all of these high dollar amps? If you guys are right, I will spend $500 for some MB Quart QSD's, sell my PCS for about $200 on ebay and bang out with $100 to $150 Hifonics amps. Hell...I might keep the "Power Craptastics" as I seen someone call them.

Not to change the subject though...how do I get the hissing sound out of my system when the stereo is real low volume. I have tried 3 different grounds with my high amp. Sounds like the old tape decks when it was on play but the music hasn't started.

That's still a horrible, horrible location.

Features, build quality, reliability, prestige, cosmetics, warranty and customer service, power ouptut (actual vs. rated), etc etc.

What HU do you have?
