High End 4 Channel Amp

Love my McIntosh. Mcc404M (100w x4) - It is beyond anything else I have heard. The best advice I can give someone doing a high end build is to buy the best head unit you possibly can. I'd recommend knukonceptz.com for all the wiring.

If you are going to go with high end amps then it's a good idea to buy some high end speakers to go with them. Audison, Brax, Zed (I'd recommend these), Zapco amps are all very nice. There are more but I can't remember them all off the top of my head

A lot of the mid priced focal series components (around 300-400$) can compete with 600$ range speakers from other manufacturers. I don't see much of a point going into the 700$+ range for speakers, the difference in SQ vs price just isnt there IMO...

I was so pissed when I had my Pioneer HU, and so happy when I switched it out. The difference was crazy.

On the other spectrum, I don't see the point in spending excessive amounts of money on a high end amp and the differences aren't really there. I will agree that the deck is what makes the main difference.

To invest thousands into speakers and amps alone are retarded in my book though.

How I rationalized it. The speakers are more likely to blow than the amp, and McIntosh generally lasts. You dont have to buy the stuff brand new either. The economy is in the shitter and some lightly used equipment can be bought for 1/2 the price.

no ^ (to fish)

It is very dependent on the install also, a sealed door will always sound better than one that is not. Proper sound deadening is in place, you will need vibration dampener, CCF (or another similar decoupler) and MLV. The head unit is important and will always be the brain of the operation. When looking at head units you will need to know whether you will be running active or not.

It seems like Boston Acoustics is having a going out of car audio sale. You may be able to find the GT-4100 model at a good price. It has 4x100watt rating at 4ohm.
