Hifonics XXV Colossus good amp?

uh yeah they are all over on termpro ect....use the search button.. Advanced Search - Car Audio Forum - CarAudio.com

no xx or xxv amp ever made has done less than rated even on subpar electrical...they were grossly underrated amps... and the collosus if you do some research was actually banned at 1 point because it made so much power and were thought to be a "cheater amp" so I have no clue what you think you know about them but you are dead wrong....

Pasmag did a review of them and published their results as well...

they do not and are not going to, make that line anymore tho because the market will not currently support it.

the BRZ3000 is the biggest they have now.

here have a look...

notice it is from this site...and the collossus was the clear winner in the poll...

and that was just a few quick 1's from a simple google search....

maybe if you knew what other "awesome" brands are the same exact amp as the x,xx and xxv line you wouldn't run your mouth about it...

someone else may not know what they are talking about. it was not banneed from producing too much power. it was banned overseas because It was sid to have 2 baords in one amp. essentially 2 amps in one case and was classified as 2 amps and not one..

Austin175 have you been to shows in davenport at automotive innovations herd of 2 15 lvl4 xls dwn there getting dirty wasnt sure if it was you or not.. im bout 45 min from that and may attend this year,,

I didnt either other than to show factual evidence and they were not "banned" really... they were outlawed at the finals in 2004 at the dbdrags ( here in the USA not overseas...)

it was later proven that they were just 2 PCB in 1 chassis but still 1 amplifier that ran in dual mono...ie stereo mode... but it still only had 1 input stage... same thing everyone else was doing as well... like AB VFL ect....... Hifi just did it better with better efficiency and made more power is all.. I know, we had the JBL/Crown powered white and yellow citation that was assraping everyone and the collossus was killing everything even worse and was rated almost 50% lower wattage..

here is a small excerpt to show you that it was not in Europe it was right here in the good ole south of Tennesee youngin'

Hifonics Colossus Outlawed for Too Much Power

Chicago, Il- Maxxsonics USA, the auto-sound parent and manufacturer of Crunch and Hifonics mobile audio sound systems was saddened to learn that its Hifonics 3200-Watt RMS XX-Colossus was banned from the dB-Drag finals held in Nashville, Tennessee and hereby launches a formal protest to that organization.

dB Drag announced less than 24-hours before commencement of the finals that the Hifonics XX-Colossus did not meet dB-Drag rules for amplifier design. Its competitors notified Maxxsonics of the organizations confused decision only after the final's event had taken place.

dB-drag took the advice of European dB-Drag judges, and branded competitors, alleging the Hifonics XX-Colossus was actually " two amplifiers " inside its heat sink, instead of one. The drama began with an email posted on dB-Drag's website forum, containing a portion of a personal Maxxsonics email response to a European end user with a DIY install question. The response contained a very brief and quick XX Colossus topography description, "It is two 1600-watt amplifier PCBs strapped inside". This statement was taken out of context, and was a small excerpt from a series of emails, answering installation questions.

A factual note; in early 2004, third-party European engineers independently certified Maxxsonics XX-Colossus as a single-amplifier internally for "CE" and the stricter "E-Mark" certification. College-degreed engineers prepared this E-Mark certification. They correctly certified the XX Colossus to be a single amplifier internally. However, hearsay and self-serving factors set the rash dB-Drag decision into motion.
