Hifonics Square sub Versus Kicker, bout 2 give u the lowdown

I second that hard core //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

They were awesome! Sounded so good if you ask me. Something the L series is lacking in, yet doesn't seem it was intended for SQ so that's not much matter. I would kill for a pair of 8" round solos with the gray cone. Had a pair stolen and have missed them so much since.

Went to the local dealer lookin for components for my new truck but Instead i caught myself in the web of Hifonics new square sub the "Atlas"
Let me explain the set up the guy had in his competion ponitac Aztec. Stock radio he had, with an output converter goin to the amp, and on top of that, it was in a pre-fab ported box. ****NNNN this thing kicks the shit out of Kickers crap. It's just as loud, and sounds SOOOO much better in SQ that any L5 or L7. I have to say i am really impressed with this thing. Oh and he had a Brutus BX 1800D up to it. oh ya and all he had was 1 12. Shit sound like 2.

They had just made a Denali with all kicker in it that was gonna be on the cover of a magazine and he called up hifonics and asked if they wanted there shit to be in the mag to and they said yes. So they got the equipment and he just kept on commenting to me how he really noticed how much better these things sound while mainting just as loud as an L7. He also has a world record with 2 10 inch L7's in his CRX and he told me he went as far as to replace them with Hifonics stuff. And just to let you know how loud they get he even has a world record with the new Atlas in Canada.

Take my word for it or not but these sound really reeeeeallllly good and i plan on puttin a few in my truck.
Are you talking about Alex from Sound Decision?

The shop salesman that is being referred to is Alex Avila. The shop he works at is Sound Decision in Montgomery, Ill. This shop has turned out many award winning and magazine featured vehicles. Co-Owner and Installer Sean "Crackie" Young was named MERA's Installer of the year for 2003. They also have a knack for building very loud street cars.
Alex set the DbDrag Racing World Record at the Audio Thunder 3X show in Toronto, earlier this season. His competitor profile can be found here http://www.termpro.com/asp/competitorstats.asp?Competitor_ID=6039 . He is currently the 3rd loudest Stret A car in the states, 2nd place is held by his friend and fellow Chicago-area competitor Mike Skaritka. Also, he hasn't been to a DbDrag show in almost 3 months. His Aztec is more of a show car now, he did use it to comete with in 2003. It is also used to tow his CRX. The stock radio is still in there to retain access to many of the factory controls, steering wheel controls and satellite radio, that are tied into the factory radio.

The Hifonics subs are for real. In a recent visit up to Chicago Alex proved to me that these subs could meet or exceed the spl scores of the Kickers. I cannot comment on SQ as we only tested SPL in SPL designed enclosures.

On a side note, it is interesting to see how many of you are readily willing to bash a person or a product before you have all the facts. A new car audio enthusiast goes to a shop and gets a little confused about the info he is given and before trying to figure out the real facts you all begin calling BS. How many of you have tested both the Hifonics and Kicker? How many of you have built a world record spl car? How many of you have won a World Championship? Many of the newer car audio enthusiasts are quick to critisize and slow to get the real facts or to learn how to properly do things. Without proper knowledge your are just ignorant.
Sorry, didn't read the whole thread.

I was at a car show this year where he hit around 154-156 off of two kicker 10's

I agree. The round Solo's kicked but! BTW: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5718574807&fromMakeTrack=true

But, I miss my old school Kicker Comp's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Back when all they had were the Comps, XPL's and round Solo's. Those comps were the stuff back in the day too for the price. Brings back memories..........

SO.... lets just argue a bit about a bunch of bullshit...

who cares which sub is louder and which isn't.... if one person likes Hifonics then let him use it.... if this person likes Kicker, then let him use it....

If i had to choose between Hifnics subs and Kicker subs.... id prolly choose kicker b/c ive heard more about them.

but how in the hell can you have a world record in canada?

Boy do i love this forum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif....if hifonics is copying kicker then kicker is coping sony.
I may be wrong, but I think he was referring to specific patent infringements and not just the shape of the sub.

In the early and mid eighties Sony did make a square woofer in their home audio line. It was a flat metal diaphram with a cloth surround. Also in the mid to late eighties Pioneer used a square woofer in quite a few of their Carrozeria rear deck surface mount car speakers.

a 'subwoofer' that was for car audio, not home, and didn't vary in sizes, much less be made for car audio standards.
