Looking for a amp to power my 2 sundown sd3 10". I used a helix dark blue 5 channel amp from recommendations on here the it will not handle the 1 ohm load like its supposed to. So, Im looking for a inexpensive 1 ohm stable amp and am trying to decide between the hifonics brutus brx1516.1d or the pioneer gm-d9601. The hifonics I can get a little cheaper and its more powerful but is the pioneer a better amp? Ive read several great reviews on both.

hifonics is overrated and needs to be kept 14.8 ish volts to actually perform well. In normal voltage conditions the amp output drops dramatically and gets really dirty. Technically the hifonics is not more powerful at all The pioneer might actually have more power if you factor in efficiency. Just the pioneer doesnt have a subsonic filter. I'd actually go audiopipe apcl 1800 before touching any hifonics BRX lines again.

This would smoke out the hifonics any day.

Really? I figured the hifonics would beore powerful because it uses 2 70amp fuses and the pioneer has 3 40 amp. Also read the Brutus line is very good.
I've ran two brx 2400s man. They aint sh*t, they supposed to be 4800 watts together? BS I swapped it with a DC audio 3.5k and it was miles louder than both of them combined and sounded way better and hit way lower on the same subs same box. Hifonics is budget power but its not great power. Even in the amplifier dynos, they could not make rated power in certified tests to save their lives. Keep in mind in the dyno video it is their Brutus elite which is much higher build quality than their normal brutus lines. Their 2400s are lucky to be 2000 watts. There's WAY more to an amp than their claimed power ratings. The country of orgin along with efficiency and overall design plays a big factor in a quality amp VS 4-5 star reviews from noobs that just moved up from a boss/pyle amp. If you want something thats good, get a korean made board or brazilian made board that will actually get you loud.

If you have to get a cheap chinese board, at least get one thats proven itself on the amplifier dyno in certified tests. Dynamic power tests dont matter.

I have a Hifonics and Pioneer amp in my car. The Hifionics is much more powerful than the pioneer, and the sound is clean. I've had it for several years in my daily driver and have no complaints. If I was into competitions, I would probably go with one of the high end brands.
