hifonics BX1500D help

i would seriously check how you wired the subs. messing with settings usually wont fry an amp unless you had it up way high and it was clipping the whole time.
did it get hot at all?
even though if i set the amp setting way high wouldn that only affect the subs...the amp is made for those setting so that wouldnt harm it... rite?

how important is the ground...my ground is kinda loose.

No.....it depends upon things like input signal voltage and input power voltage, impedence driven, etc. If you have a high input voltage and send the amp into hard clipping, heat and "overworking it" and such may damage it. If you are driving too low of an impedence and you turn the amp's gain or bass boost up, you could damage the amp by causing it to do more than it was designed to do.

how important is the ground....
Very.

Tighten it.

the popping sound seems to be comin from the subs not the amp. We reconnected everything inside and outside the box, even the terminals on the amp. Still same result happend.

There's a diagram that may help you out a lil. Oh and before went everything went smoothly the light that stays red used to be green. Other than that the amp looks like it isnt fried since the emblem on the top and sides still light up blue.

so could the ground be the problem? all it is, is its just screwed the metal floor trunk(on the side)...but its kinda loose...not that tight.
definitely tighten that screw down to a BARE METAL surface. I had a similar problem with my amp, actually, i don't think it turned on at all. I cant remember.

Either way, i made a better ground and it worked perfectly.

then what?

Do it and see what it reads //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif If your subs are wired to 1ohm, then it should read just under 1ohm (like .7ohm or there abouts). If they are wired to 2ohm, then it should read just under 2ohm (1.5ohm or there abouts). If your subs are wired to 2ohm, and it reads something like .7ohm, then one of the subs/voice coils are blown.

oh ok...thx

Did you do what I suggested?
no because i really cant get my ****n DMM to work right...it keeps on flashing...this is my second one to i bought...ill prob hook up another amp to my subs and hook up my amp to another sub and find out which one is defected.
