Hifonics BX1500D Birthsheet

those numbers are nice and all, but they mean nothing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

you are also assuming that the fuses will pop instantaneously... and they won't...

Ok, well I emailed John at Hifonics and here is his reply. He is a really nice fellow and answered pretty quickly:

Hello Milton,

Good eye but your not the first to catch our mistake (third). The amp was fused incorrectly in production and amazingly, it took nearly 1 year before we had a fuse blow and tracked it back to the wrong fuse in the amp. The correct fuse rating is 160 amps. Now, of course 1500 watts RMS at a continual tone would blow the fuse in a short period of time but when playing music, the 1500 watts is not a continual output stream. It occurs during hard bass notes and loud volume levels. We have made corrections in production and will send you the correct fuses if you would like.

I really apologize for the mistake. It was our fault. I also appreciate the fact that you not only took time to inform us but you didn't smash our heads in over an honest mistake.

Best regards,

John

So basically it is supposed to draw 160amp and not 120 amps. He said he would send me the real fuses if I would like. I must say from this response I am glad that I have bought one of his amps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That's really cool that he'll send you the correct fuses. I haven't had a problem yet since i'm not running mine at 1-ohm.....yet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. But if i do i'll make sure to email him and ask him for the correct fuses. Those little buggers are expenisive.

does that mean that everyone that owns one should throw in 80amp fuses... what was the difference that everyone could hear?? if any
No, it just means that the current the amp needs could go higher then 120amp and the fuses would blow. He is not saying that it will happen. If you run it at 2 ohms or 4ohms nothing should happen. If you would run it a 1 ohm at high volumes then you would have a continous 1500 watts and they would most likely blow. If you plan to compete with this amp you should get the 80amps fuses for it. As for a difference I don't know since I haven't tried the amp yet.

So, I'm now up for a 1500D off of eBay ... and some 80 amp fuses //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hey guys, I found out that Hifonics actually made a mistake in there factory on the BX1500D.

They fused it at 120 amps mistakenly.

It was corrected to 160 amps.

We tested the amp on an Audio Precision 2 and found it provided 1550 watts continual at 1 Ohm and 1% THD&N.

The amp really cranks out the power like the older models of years ago.

Anyone wanna let me send them money, and they buy the 1500D off eBay, and send it to me ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I'd get ***** at the border otherwise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

that's unbelievably stupid... doesn't amke any sense... as longa s you pay the difference in shipping, I can't see what their problem would be... it can be insured, adn tracked if you add those options...
