Hifonic's amplifiers

I was wondering what you guys think of the Hifonics 1605d amplifier. My friend just got an L7 DVC 2 and is looking to run this amp @2ohms. It claims to do 1100rms@ 2ohm but I think this amp is over rated. What do you guys think?

The Concept amp I picked up is worlds better, and still a cheapie.

Think of Hifonics the same way you'd think of Fruity Rings.

I have a short story to tell u about my 1605d amp... I have (had) a kenitik batt (capkiller) I hammer my music daily, burped it multiple times. After hitting 140.5 on the new ac 190, I turned up the gain and 3 weeks later hit 141.4

1 week later my brother was playing some young jeezy, and birdman, and all kinda shit @ full tilt for quite some time. ( I was at work btw and could'nt tell him to turn it down)

When I got to the car my subs were cutting out and hardly NOOOO bass... I said sh!t, I know my amp is toast... I finally took a multimeter to find out if my subs were fried and to see the voltage on my capkiller battery. Subs were fine, but the battery read 3.9 VOLTS@!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

no blown fuses so I just KNEW the amp was dead... Come to find out it was the fuse holder!!! (there was an internal short ) the alternator never charged the rear battery!! My amp has been running on the secondary battery for at least a week till it finally killed it. After replacing the capkiller AND fuse holder it's louder than ever before!!!

Why the story? Well I use to slam the amp I have saying it was a p.o.s. But seeing how it held up to the abuse I and my brother put on it, I'd buy another one if I had to... I'd recommend it highly. we already knew it was a bang for your buck amp, the only dispute over it was that if it did its rated power.

Also I wanted to relay how tough this amp really is... Have you ever driven YOUR amp to where it drains your battery to 3.9 volts??? I would be willing to bet if you had you'd be looking to buy another amp and possibly more subs. Yes it's alittle overrated but so what??? It will do 1200 watts with ease @ 12 volts How many other 1200 watt amps can you get for 250?? (new)

The fuse holder I was using was a *used* 100amp fuse holder something on the order of this

when I opened the fuse holder and removed the fuse, there is a copper sleeve that the fuse sits in. That sleeve was loose, charred and burnt. That's what kept the rear battery from being charged. I just went out to buy an elcheapo (boss) fuse holder and now it ROCKS!! Time to get re metered again. Its noticeably louder then ever before.

(also props to the kentik capkiller, God only knows how long I was driving around with my amp ******* the life outta it now *i think* my cap killer is dead, but gotta get it charged up to see //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

IMO, dont get it.

Everyhting Ive seen has it way overrated.

yeah feel what u are sayin ur amp proably was running at like 12.1 or lower. And for any amp to work on that low power is great.
