hifonics amp at 0.5 ohms

i'm thinking about getting the hifonics bxi1606d which is rated at 1600W with a 1ohm load.

i'm also thinking about getting two new subs, and i need to know if i should get dvc 4 ohm or dvc 2 ohm. with the dual 4 subs i could wire to 1ohm and get it's max rated power, but if i got the dual 2 i could wire to 0.5 ohms and get more power. i'd like to know whether or not the hifonics could handle this daily (after impedance rise, etc)? or am i better off going with the dual 4's and getting 1600W?

so you're saying it won't work at 0.5 ohms and that it's highly over-rated?

i heard that the '06 hifonics amps were less overrated than their older ones.

do you know of anyone that's benched this amp at 1 ohm?

i went from a bx1500D to a 81000D , there supposed to be rated the same (1500 watt rms) but the 81000D completly blows the bx1500D away , its not even on the same level

when i actually owned the bx1500D i thaught it was good, but thats becuase i've never had better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif once i've had a taste of whats better i will never go back

edit:: heres the thread where i took my bx1500D apart , http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=169886

I heard the opposite. I heard that the older ones are stouter than the newer ones. Or at least the internals looked alot beefier in the older models.

@ 13 or 14 you'll get rated power out of that hifonics.....@ 12volts......good luck

.5ohms................POOOOOOOOOOF!!!!! it's done......

if my old modded mtx 1501d couldnt take half ohm for more than 10 min......then im positive a brutus wont last nearly as long........thier rated ohms may be diffeant, but the mtx quality surpases the hifonics for sure....

the only hifoncis amp i've seen tested, was in car audio mag and it didn't do it's rated power, it was rated at 5000 rms and only did 4600, i think it was the goliath?

thats right i made that...

first off, the bxi models will take .5 daily. Been there, done that... They will get hot though, while doing it. As far as power rating goes, never benched any of those amps, so can't tell ya much. The 06 bxi look much more beefier in the internals than the 00 does.

was that an older brutus or an '06 model?

and why did you only gain 86W going from 12V to 14.4V? don't the laws of physics suggest it should be (a lot) more? or is that due to the amp's design?
