Hifonics 1206D or 1606D At 2-Ohms For Powering 1 12" Alpine Type-R?

My car dims with 2 12" Type R's...on a 1206D @ 1ohm...

Soo Im gonna upgrade alt... and batt

Alright, what is your alternator amp stock at?

And can anyone tell me if its better to power 1 Type-R at 2 ohms with a 1606D or 2 Type-R's at 2 ohms/1ohms with a 1206D in terms of dimming/alternator power, because I wont be upgrading my alternator anytime soon until I get a job and get some bills paid off.

Anybody help me on that? Thanks.

No job?

OK this is what I WOULD do..

Buy the 1206, SET the gains right, and buy one Type R... that would be the lowest hit on the alternator

BUT if u want to have headroom, go for the 1606 and one or 2 type R's///

Whats the first question u asked?

Yeah, thats what I kinda want, headroom for an extra Type-R down the road, but Im just kinda shifty on the 1606D with alternator dimming at 2 ohms, but no one really clarified how bad it would be, or if its just plain better than the 1206D?

Im assuming that with the 1606D at 1 or 2ohms, with 2 Type-Rs on a stock alternator, it will dim very bad?

Thanks.

Depends on the car...

My Accord took it pretty bad...

At first u wont notice it....

But give it a month and that DIMMING will get ya... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Do the BIG 3 and use 1/0 gauge wire to the amp... or the disrro block

What about 130A stock? Do you know any places that sell 1606D or 1605D for under $250 in DFW???

I will be doing the Big 3 with 1/0 gauge for sure, but my amplifier will be running off 4-gauge wire I bought off KnuKonceptz last week or so.

All I need to know is which amplifier will be better in terms of performance and power usage with only one Type-R. The 1206D or 1606D at 2-ohms. Any takes? Opinions?

And is it worse on the electrical/alternater with 2 Type-R subwoofers at 1-ohm on a 1206D or is it worse with 1 Type-R subwoofer at 2-ohm on a 1606D?

Thanks.

IIRC, the BXi 1206D and 1606D are around 80% of their rated power (I think it's slightly higher though).

If thats true, then the 1206D at 900watts RMS at 2-ohms will really be at 720watts RMS correct? If so, thats more than enough for me in terms of watts. I pushed my Rockford P1's (haha, I know) basically to its limits with the gains all the way up and stuff, and it was pretty loud for me (at no more than 400-450watts RMS tops probably) so 720watts RMS will be almost twice that I believe.

Yeahhh.

my 1605D is off about 100 watts @ 1ohm. which makes it off by what 7%? not 20% //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

That may be true, I'm just going off what I've been told from others, I haven't actually had mine measured :p

But how similar is the 1605D and 1606D?

EDIT:

And how COULD I measure mine, I'd like to know exactly what it's capable of.

You're forgetting impedance rise. Account for that and you might be getting around ~550-600 watts. I'd get the 1606, no question at all. Don't think anymore, just get the 1606 and be done with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

boards are different so im not sure how close they are to eachother in actual rms. they are rated the same.

dmm measure your voltage playing a 50hz tone

Sqrt(Power*Resistance) = AC Voltage
