Hifonics 1206D or 1606D At 2-Ohms For Powering 1 12" Alpine Type-R?

Title says it all. I found some sweet deals for the 1606D at the same price as a 1206D. Im just afraid at 2ohms, the 1606D at 1100 watts rms will blow out the Alpine Type-R 12" subwoofer (05-06 models, not sure how to tell which models are different year-wise) faster than a 1206D at 900 watts rms would since the subs peak is at 1500watts . The box will most likely be a ported 2.0 cu.ft. at 32 hertz. What is everyones take on this question?

i run my bxi1206d at 1 ohms to a 12'' type R. what i like about the bxi 1206d vers the 1606d is the 1206d can run better on a stock electrical system. the 1606d is fused at 160 amps while the 1206d is at 80 amps.

1100 watts blowing a type r? u realize that all the time people run like orion 2500ds to a pair of type rs right....? those bishes can take alot of power if u are careful.... and even if ure not careful and blow it... they are so cheap u can just get another one

take the 1606 cus the price is so similar...just watch your gains...

and yeah, those guys love the power...

you can gain down the 1606d to almost completley off. they have a wide selection on their gains. you wont have a problem with running any wattage you want up to its max. Dont know the deal your getting but I have a BX1605D which is pretty much the same just the silver case I can do $200 shipped on.

Thanks for the help guys. Do you think the BXi1606D will be worse on my stock alternator/battery (90 amp alternator) if the 1606D is supposedly at 160 amps compared to the 1206D at 80 amps? Someone said it will, but I dont know.

Also, is the sub going to lose SQ if its at 1,100 watts compared to 900 watts? I just dont want it to like, 'fart' bass out or anything.

I just never tested out a Type-R yet, so I dont know.

Where did you get your BXI1605d?

from a member on here. and its a bx1605d not bxi the bxi is the 1606d which they changed boards and cases but put the same numbers.

well I have a stock 105a alt and my 1605d doesnt even really dim the lights.

I'd pick up the 1606D and just set the gain right, cuse u never know if u'll decide to pick up a 2nd sub and need the extra power.

Alright, that'd be a bright idea. So 1,100 watts (2 ohms) to 1 Type-R with the 1606D will be ok with sound quality and loudness?

And how much (about) RMS power would 2 Type-R's get each?

i doubt your sub will see anywhere near 1100 rms on that amp.

get that bx1605 off nvruckus. thats a good deal.

you wont lose sq on the amount of power....that is all enclosure-dependant.

give it 2.75 cubes @ 32 hz and it should wang hard.

I appreciate it, but I'd rather get something new and Im sure the BXi1606D will put out near 900-1,100 watts, overrated or not.

But thanks for clearing up the SQ thing, about how it depends on the enclosure. I never expected that.

and a bxi1606 was benched at 13xx @ 1 ohm on 14.4v iirc. dont be so sure.
