Hifonica amps

Well, I'm going tot go against the grain here. The shop I compete for sells Hifonics and I don't much care for them at all. I guess for the watt/dollar ratio there are good...like stated before. As for efficiency, I think they are power hungry and very inefficient. I ran a Goliath Gen XX (2500w x 1 @ 1ohm) to a 15" PBX (1000w rms / 2000w peak). I had to have the gain on the thing to like 3/4 or more to get the sub moving. Granted it is a good sub, but this amp does 500w over the MAX rated power. This shouldn't have been. Also, if you looking for good tech support...well, let's just say I have had numerous bad experiences.

Bottom line: not a fan.

Been running Hifonics longer than alot (not all) of you have been driving....

I like them... I have used ""Better"" amps and did not see the hype...

I could go on and on, but I don't feel like typing...

I used to hear a lot of reports of people's Brutus series amps frying up only a few weeks after they got them. I don't know if it was user error or bad quality; if it was a quality problem then Hifonics must have fixed it since i haven't heard anything bad in about a year.

I did here of a few myself, but considering the amount of them sold, I would not call it a lot...

I'd say that due to the number of HiFonics products produced and sold, yes, it does increase the possibility for error and a product being defective. I dont think that makes them a bad choice for your installation. From the stories I have heard about the HiFonics amps, most of the people that had problems were due to the fact that the Brutus series are slightly overrated, which might lead to people pushing them harder than necessary/what the amp is capable of (we are talking less than 100 watts here - which I dont think is a serious crime considering the other classic over-raters)

Additionally, you have to realize what the market for these amps is comprised of. People, with a limited knowledge of car audio, asking "what amp is good?", buying it sound unheard, and then proceeding to install it themselves with that same limited knowledge.

Obviously you are going to end up with a few burned up amps. Usually the people buying the more high end stuff have some knowledge, or had a decent shop that knows what they are doing install it for them, therefore, less cases of installation error, and less blown/"faulty" amps.

Not trying to make an example of the OP here, just bringing up a point.

the brutus series is over rated??????? i always heard it was under rated... anyway what kind of amps does a brutus 1000 draw...would a stock 03 silverado alternater power it sufficiently
