hi from the ocean.

nice pics. just make sure not to get sucked up into the intake of one of those jets like the one guy and the harrier. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

wasn't a harrier iirc. but his cranial (helmet thing) got sucked off and damaged the engine before he got sucked in and he just got a little cherried - kinda like a hickey all over your body. guy didnt have have serious injuries.

but a hornet\superhornet are not really too dangerous as far as intakes are concerned. only when they go up on the throttle is when you even have any remote danger of being sucked in. ive seen a butterfly lazily fly right past the intake - maybe 2 feet away and didnt have any problems. ive stood in front of them at idle. no big deal.

eh. if you all fancy more pictures maybe ill put some more up.

yea it shoots like 900 bullets the size of my forearm in like 3 seconds.

i was coming up a ladder well on the catwalk around the edge of the flight deck and they were doing testing and had secured the flight deck and i was told to go up to do something, so as i was putting my gloves on they fired the gun that was like 20 feet in front of me. all these plastic cartridges flew in my face - luckily i was wearing goggles - but they cover the tip of the bullet because the real rounds are depleted uranium and slightly radioactive, this plastic cover breaks off as the round exits the muzzle so the handlers that build up the bandoleers are not touching the metal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

so how is one of those things loaded then. i saw a vid some time ago of them shooting down a missle with it. you'd think if they were being shot at for real that thing would be going though ammo like crazy.

yea there is a giant hole under it filled with a really long bandoleer.

it looks just like this.

there is like 1550 bullets in the magazine and they are gone within seconds. the actual bullet that fires out the gun is about 3 inches long and maybe an inch in diameter. they are badass.

nice night time pics. lets see, rounds that size fired at a 45 deg angle.... wonder how far those bullets are going. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
