Where are your "Linking" species?

Fruit flies and bacteria are separated by over 3 billion years of evolution (dont even try to wrap your mind around how long of a time that really is). So of course there is no half-fly/half-bacteria, and the only thing close to that wouldnt really resemble either species.

Notice how most branches eventually lead to extinction. 99.9% of the species that have ever lived are now extinct.
