hey guys, i know you probly get alot of these threads about this. but im looking for a system for my 1999 Explorer. i am on a TIGHT budget, and im not looking for something that is super loud or just rattle my car apart because its only a 2 door. i was given a sony xplod, but i have a feeling on why it was just givin to me. haha. but i was thinking about something like p1s or p2s. i could also get a pair of fosgate r1 with a JL amp for a great price. im looking for SQ the SPL.

the most i can spend is 300 and that is MAX. and i am open to other brands, but i mean i have heard both the P2 and P1 in person and i know what they are capable of. the only other brands i have heard are JL, MTX, Sony, and Memphis.

well the guy i bought the car from had a sub and amp in it until it got stolen. so did the head unit. but its got the dash kit, ALL wires, all i have to get is an amp and a sub and a head unit. im not sure what he had in it before, because I didnt ask him.

Okay, so $300 for an amp, two subs, and a h/u. That's still not a very realistic budget imo. It really limits choices to flea market stuff, used items from 1992, or breaking into someone elses car to steal their gear but leave them 3 one hundred dollar bills for it.

On second thought, this will obviously be a low powered system, that budget is probably doable with some entry level gear.

i know its going to be hard. i mean when you get into my car its pretty ghetto to see the wires just hanging out of the dash. lol. so i wanna get atleast a head unit. and if i dont have the budget for subs, i guess i wont get them. but i was just seeing if you guys could help me out on finding something.

Only thing I can think on that budget new would be like a 1 kicker cvr, an amp and a box from a pawn shop, and a headunit from either pawn shop too or a cheaper one online or best buy.

That seems doable.

well as much as i hate to say it, iv narrowed it down to either two p1, get demensions and build my own box, get a fosgate amp for cheap from a pawn shop, and get a h.u from the audio store because i can get a good price. butting me right at or below 300 dollors.

well guys, i have got my for sure system. and i have a feeling after reading some other posts that you guys wont like it at all. well i was given a blown 10w7, which is going to be 220 to recone. and then i bought a JL 500/1 amp for 5 bucks which is going to cost 180 to get refrub'd. obviouslly putting me 100 over what i said i could spend, which over time i can manage.
