Ok so I just returned my Pontiac G6 to the dealership.

It has Alpine Type R Components in the front. Infinity in the back. And an alpine 4 channel to power it all.

They want to charge me because the speakers will not run at all in the cold. If the car gets warm enough most of the time the speakers will start to run.

I can not find anything on google about speakers freezing but I was wondering if there was any reason an amp wouldn't function in the cold.

All the wiring is good and the ground is good, this problem is directly related to the cold weather because in every other season the speakers run fine, and when the heat is on long enough they run fine.

I am going to the dealer friday to try to work out the problem so any help would be great.

THANKS GUYS

Unless you live in -50 deg f Alaska, they should play even a little bit in the cold. Sounds like something else is at fault, like a wire thats really loose or something that's expanding/moving as the car warms up. Have them show you exactly what they mean, because I call BS.

Its definitely not BS because i have had the car through 2 winters and this has also happened to me. I never thought anything of it and just thought it was some regular occurrence with aftermarket setups in cold weather. But as I have been researching it seems I am the only human being that has had this problem lol. So this is something that correlates directly with temperature, and I have suspicion it is the amp because I could not find a single topic about speakers completely freezing, but there does seem to be a couple of people who amp issues related to the cold.

who knows, you never know what electronics will do sometimes.

I have a Heads Up Display in my car and they are notorious to have problems with the solder jobs on the boards. It's possible that the amp has a faulty solder somewhere and it just takes a while for it to heat up to become functional. Try testing with a different amp first.

I typed Alpine MRP-F450 cold weather into google and someone had the same exact problem with the amp so I am 95 percent convinced the amp is faulty in cold weather. I am going to have one of my friends at Best Buy pick me up an amp and I will go to the dealer and swap em out. Cheapest and quickest option. I really don't want to convert the car back to stock which will take FOREVER.

That strikes me as overboard. We'll probably survive if a thread or two every week comes back from the dead.
