hey i am wondering what kind of formula u use to figure out tuning?

i know it has to do with port area and overall box volume i am just wondering how you calculate?

Fb - is the tuning frequency of your enclosure in Hertz.Lv - is the length of your port in inches.

R - is the inside radius of your vent tube.

Vb - is the internal volume of your enclosure in cubic inches. To convert cubic feet to cubic inches, multiply by 1728.

If you want to use multiple ports, divide your enclosure volume by the number of ports you want to use, then use the result of this calculation as your Vb in the formula below to find out how long each port should be (a tip from JL Audio™).

If you want to calculate square vents, the formula below will give you the value of R to use in the formula above.

Conversion Formula

In the formula above, a is the area of your square vent (height x width), and

(Pi) is approximately 3.141592.

Follow these steps to get the tuning of your enclosure...

-Take the port area and find it's square-root

-Then multiply that by .823

-Add the port's length onto that

-Multiply this by the enclosures net cubic inches

Now highlight and copy this number, or write it down/save it (if youre using the comp's calculator it's easier this way)

-Now take 184,000,000 multiplied by the port area

-Devide by that number you hopefully copied in the steps above

-Find the square root of this number

-Mulitply by .159
