my pre outs are 5v.. how to i match that up with the gain ? bass boost on amp all the way down..

On my amp the gain ranges from 9v (min) to 0.2v (max). I have it set somewhere in the middle to be around 1.8v, which is the voltage my HU has.

yep try turn it down or use the multi meter method to set the gain. also what kind of box they in

It's probably set around 1.5-3v. Which would certainly be sending your subs a clipped signal.

yea wow i just went and looked and your right... so wtf.. that kinda makes me a lil mad.. when i talked to aq over the phone and had me set it this way

I'd say the problem is that he didn't break them in properly before powering them fully. Which is why they would fail in the first five days.
