Here's a dumb question for ya

I currently have my system hooked up to my head unit through the stock wires, not using any RCA's or anything. If I buy an aftermarket head unit, do I just have to use a wiring harness, then plug in the RCA's, from the amp to the headunit, and forget about where the wires from the headunit go into the amp now? If that makes any sense to anyone, please help, thanx.

If you install a new head unit and switch to RCA cables for the amp input, then you should disconnect the old high-level input wires and tape up the ends so they won't short. Don't leave the high-level inputs connected as well as the RCAs, if that's what you're asking. You will almost certainly need to adjust your amp's gains after the head unit goes in.
